President & CEO
Pierre-Yves Lesaicherre, Ph.D. joined Nanometrics as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director in November 2017. From January 2012 to February 2017, Dr. Lesaicherre was CEO of Lumileds, an integrated manufacturer of LED components and Automotive Lighting Lamps. Prior to that, Dr. Lesaicherre held senior executive positions at NXP from 2006 to 2012. Before NXP, Dr. Lesaicherre was with Philips Semiconductors. He holds an MBA with a focus on international business and strategy from INSEAD, and has MS and Ph.D. degrees in Material Science from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Chou brings to Nanometrics over 25 years of financial leadership and management in the semiconductor capital equipment and global electronics and consumer manufacturing industries. For seven years he was with Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc., a leading global provider of semiconductor packaging and electronic assembly solutions, where he served as CFO since 2010 and also served as interim chief executive officer from October 2015 through October 2016. For the three years prior to Kulicke & Soffa, Mr. Chou was the CFO of Feihe International, a NYSE-listed Sequoia Capital portfolio consumer goods company based in China. Prior to his U.S.-listed company CFO roles, Mr. Chou held Asia Pacific Regional CFO roles with Fortune 500 companies including Honeywell International, Tyco International and Lucent Technologies. Mr. Chou currently serves on the board of directors of MicroPort Scientific. Jonathan holds an MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business, North Carolina and a B.A. from the University at Buffalo, New York.
Sr. Vice President, Operations
Mr. Barnhart joins Nanometrics from Cymer LLC, an ASML company, where he served as senior vice president, global operations since 2010. His substantial operations experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry began nearly 30 years ago, when he joined Applied Materials as a manufacturing manager in etch tool production. At Applied Materials, Mr. Barnhart served in various operational leadership roles throughout the company, including as chief operating officer of the etch products business group, managing director of corporate asset services, and strategic worldwide account operations general manager. Jim was an engineering division officer in the U.S. Navy, where he ensured operational reactor regulatory compliance as a chemistry and radiological controls officer. He completed the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power postgraduate school with honors. Mr. Barnhart holds an MBA from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Washington State University’s College of Engineering in Pullman.
Sr. Vice President, Corporate Development
Kevin Heidrich, Sr. Vice President, Corporate Development, joined Nanometrics in 2006. Kevin has participated in many functions, expanding his scope in the past eight years to include new product development, corporate marketing, product marketing, business development and is now responsible for both corporate strategy and applications as Nanometrics expands its overall solution space within process control metrology. Prior to Nanometrics, Kevin spent a decade at Intel Corporation in a variety of roles including process research and development at Intel’s Portland Technology Development facility. Mr. Heidrich received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Colorado School of Mines in Chemical Engineering.
Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Rollin Kocher, Sr. Vice President of Commercial Operations, joined Nanometrics in March 2013 as Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Service. Prior to joining Nanometrics, Rollin held several senior management positions over 17 years at KLA-Tencor, including Global Sales for Films and Scatterometry, Sales for Taiwan, North America and Europe as well as General Manager of the Samsung Business Unit while living in South Korea. Mr. Kocher holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the University of North Texas.
Vice President, Research & Development
Rodney Smedt joined Nanometrics as Vice President, Engineering in November 2014. Prior to joining Nanometrics, Mr. Smedt held the position of Vice President Engineering at Revera Inc from 2005 to 2014. Prior to ReVera, Mr Smedt held the positions of Vice President Engineering at Therma-Wave Corporation and Sensys Instruments from 2001 to 2005, and previously held engineering management positions with KLA-Tencor from 1989 to 2001. Mr Smedt holds over 20 patents related to Metrology, Wafer Inspection and Semiconductor capital equipment.
Janet Taylor joined Nanometrics as General Counsel in July 2015. Ms. Taylor served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Company Secretary of STATS ChipPAC Ltd., from June 2005 to June 2015. Prior to joining STATS ChipPAC Ltd, Ms. Taylor was engaged in transactional practices at international law firms in New York, Singapore and London. Ms. Taylor was admitted to the Bar in New York in 1990 and in Singapore in 2010. Ms. Taylor holds a J.D. from the Harvard Law School and a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin.
Vice President, Global Human Resources
Philip Ziman joined Nanometrics as Vice President, Global Human Resources in April, 2016. Mr. Ziman served as VP, Human Resources at BazaarVoice, from 2012 until 2016. From 2009 to 2012 Mr. Ziman was Sr. Director, Comp and Benefits, and Business Partner at Taleo. Prior to Taleo he held other senior management positions at various companies since 1986. Mr. Ziman holds B.A. degrees in Economics and Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.B.A. from San Jose State University.
